Prevent Plant Issues?

8/31/2010 12:25:27 PM

Do you have land suitable for planting this fall that was wet this spring? Contact Doug Johnson or your TCI crop insurance agent to discuss insurable "Fall Seeded" crops.

For land to be eligible for Prevent Plant Payment, it must have been planted and harvested in one of the last three years AND insured. Winter Wheat is a viable crop but not insurable in the fall in North Dakota. We have some options to discuss.

PRF – Pasture, Rangeland & Forage Insurance

The word on the street is that PRF will be expanded to include the rest of ND this year. This policy is an index policy based on historical rainfall amounts versus current precipitation over a two month interval in 12 x 12 mile grids. There is no production, acreage report or adjuster, just an application with your agent. An excellent tool to manage your pasture and hay ground against lower than normal rainfall. Although that has not been the case in 2010, next year is a new year! Traditionally very affordable and a nice risk management tool.

LRP – Livestock Risk Protection Insurance

LRP is intended to secure today’s high price and lock it in against the price available when you sell your cattle. If you are looking at a nice market price and would like some price support, contact your TCI crop agent for info and a premium quota-tion. This is a very flexible product with respect to coverage levels, number of animals, no minimums and policy length, give us a call for all of your Crop and Livestock Insurance.
